Practice Area Rules and Guidelines

The South County Golf Club

After the opening of our new Short Game Practice area, here are the rules and guidelines pertaining to use of the practice facilities.

1.  These facilities are for the exclusive use of members, guests of members and paying visitors.  For all non members, please check into the Pro Shop before using these facilities.  Paying a green fee allows visitors free use of the facilities on that day and if a visitor is not playing and paying a green fee, a charge will be applied of €10.  A reciept will be issued for this fee and will need to be shown to the course ranger, memeber of management, the club or committees when asked.

2.  The dress code that pertains to playing on the golf course also pertains to using the practice facilities.  Click here for full details.

3.  Players are encouraged to chip from anyway within the short game area and is not confined to the 3 bays.  The 3 bays are there only to give some privacy to players practicing.

4.  In the event of wet weather, mats will be provided for the bays and may be the ONLY places you will be allowed to practice from.  Signs and updates on the website will be regularly provided.

5.  Use a small area of ground to chip from in order to concentrate your divots in a much smaller area.

6.  Replace your divots and use the sand and seed mix provided.

7.  Use your own balls or balls from the range.  BUT PICK UP YOUR BALLS AFTER YOU.  This is in order to assist the course staff cutting the greens and surrounds, and maintaining the area as best as possible.

8.  Examine the green and repair ANY pitch marks.  This is vital for EVERYBODY to do, as collectively we will all maintain the standard of the green by doing this.  Even if it is not your own pitch mark, repair it anyway!  This applies to all the greens on the golf course.

9.  Rack the bunker when you are finished.  Again this allows other players to use the bunker for practice after you have finished.

10.  In the event of a very windy day, please be aware of the brash and the cones from the trees above.

11. The frost policy on the main golf course WILL APPLY to the practice areas also.  See website and signs for regular updates.

12.  As multiple people can use the practice area at the same time, please be aware of each other for health and safety reasons.

13.  When the course staff are working on any of the practice areas, no players are allowed to play.  The course staff will have priority for the few minutes they need to do their work.

14.  In the driving range, please insure you only play within the border lines provided.

15.  No woods are allowed to be used on the driving range, please use the driving net for these shots, located in the practice area.

Please respect all the rules so that everybody can enjoy the facilities.

Thank you
